The Genie’s Abode

A concentrated mind is noticed during the time of a tingling numbing sensation. Auto response kicks in to regulate my core temperature while the process of shaking begins, but only long enough to recognize that my body must find warmth. While thoughts of deep gratefulness for electricity enter my mind, I lay cocooned within the blanket surrounded by heat.

Want to go out and explore? Maybe give snowboarding a shot? How about getting in the gym to create movement and climb a bit?

The truth is that the desire for these activities must find space to pause, as the importance of driving back to the cottage is top priority. Why is this, you ask?

The transition from leaving work at noon to enjoying the time before work in the evening, requires my energy to provide a healthy and successful night. The slight shimmer of dying embers welcomes my presence as I provide this beautiful wood stove the fuel it desires.

  (all the wood shown has been moved away from the woodstove)

Once the sky is draped with millions of stars and one giant and known moon, the interest towards experiencing the outdoors quickly dwindles. It’s challenging enough to bundle up and find strength to release the bladder during 0 degree temps, that the thought of gathering wood during this time makes running under the covers magnetic.

The challenges of living in such a simplistic and minimalist way balances out with the pure joy and love felt by this life. As the time living in the cottage comes up to 4 months, a deep awareness of my unconditional love for nature, mountains and living amongst the trees is heightened to the highest sense.

  Invision, believe, trust;

New England will forever have my heart.

As shared with some other loves earlier this month, the attention shifts to fulfilling the need for activity.

The completion of the 4,000 footers in both New Hampshire and Vermont will be completed within the calendar year. Along with this, the ability to stay present moment to moment is something I will strive towards.

The Secret, written by Rhonda Byrne, is a book which has been shared with me by a friend. Over the past couple months I have been introduced to the idea of “the law of attraction”. After reading, practicing and believing this law, I have discovered gratefulness towards all the philosophers, scientists and explorers who have lived.

Here’s to the power of a positive and open mind.

Happy New Year All!

Spreading love ~ Renée
