what about the mail drops?

tick tock, tick tock….

Before I have the chance to blink, I feel as though I will be waking up and heading to Logan Airport. The variety of emotions I have been feeling within these past couple days are becoming more heightened. I find myself feeling the need to tell those in my life, whether they are friends, co-workers, managers, or family members about this upcoming experience I am about to embark on. It’s not that I am getting tired of talking about this hike, obviously not, because this is what I want to do. Every part of me wants to leave, hike, and experience the unknown. It’s the frequent curiosity of natural questions that keep being asked. To be honest, I have no clue. I don’t really have the answer to any of these questions. From how long will it take…will I thru hike the trail in its entirety….what will I eat…how much money will I need…how does the drop box system work. The answer….I’m not sure.

I’ve informed myself through readings and posts and I’ve listened to and embraced all the knowledge of previous hikers, but when it comes down to the truth, the answer, I don’t have it.

This is okay. It is all okay. The most interesting, yet terrifying part of this experience so far is the unknown. I have no clue what is going to happen. Who is to say I will love this as much as I have assumed I will….because something that I have been learning about myself and the way of the world is that assuming leads you nowhere. Saying that, I have cleared the slate and approaching this journey with a journal of blank pages. As the days, weeks, maybe even months go by, I will fill the pages one by one and will experience first hand the answers to the questions being asked.

Three weeks from today I will be walking the land mother nature has laid out in Georgia.

Emotions are heightened. Feelings are raw. Vulnerability is endless. Yet the intensely powerful excitement and feeling of connection is at the core of it all. Thanks for the continuos continuos love, encouragement, excitement, and most of all the questions. Without these questions I would be unsure of what to look for or keep in mind. Beautiful land, here I come…
